Karina's New Cottage Style Granola
Save a bunch of money and make your own super tasty granola at home. We've been making versions of this for a few years now. This recipe is our current go-to fave. So light and crispy.
Preheat oven to 325º. Take out a large sheet pan/baking sheet and set aside.
4 cups certified gluten-free rolled oats
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup pure maple syrup
1/2 cup organic sunflower oil
1/4 teaspoon sea salt
Add a 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon, or Apple Pie Spice, or Pumpkin Pie Spice blend.
In a large mixing bowl combine the rolled oats, brown sugar, maple syrup, sunflower oil, and sea salt.
Pour the granola mixture onto the baking sheet and spread it evenly.
Bake in the center of the pre-heated oven for 12 minutes.
Stir the granola with a wooden spoon and spread evenly again.
Bake for another 12 minutes until the oats look golden and crispy.
Cool on a wire rack. The granola will crisp as it cools.
Add extras after the granola has cooled to room temperature- coconut, nuts, dried fruit/cranberries, etc.
Store in an air-tight (I prefer glass) container.
Makes roughly 8 servings.
